Let me help out with this question as it keeps piping up on forums week after week.
Whether ICT or Retail, both are just a technical way of analyzing the markets. None is superior. It’s simply about your trading religion.
The enlightenment of one’s eye to understanding the logical approach to the principles of the Markets is key to being better on whether ICT or Retail.
As a strict SMC trader, I’ll tell you that there’s no such thing as a “holy grail” strategy. There’s just a trader, how he sees and understands the market, and how he trades the market according to personal principles.
In all, consistent profitability beats every concept.
if it makes you consistent money, then it’s the best strategy for you, regardless of who is against it. The name of the strategy you should stick to is WHAT WORKS!
I'm a Financial analyst and Trader..... Working with Institutional trading SMC/ICT had helped me to forecast market better on a longer range. It's more dam knowing if the market will fall now or not. It's being able to know where there's still opened orders by the Whales with has to be closed. Once u can located DAT ur RR will be High and ur win ratio will be much. I started with Retail b4 changing into SMC.
When I started it was with retail trading. But Now I trade using Institutional trading strategy. All I look for Is order blocks (Demand and Supply zones) Check market structure. Trade straight up or wait for Confirmation depending on Trading probability. Mind I'm still good with Retail means like Trend line. But Retail Is just to complement SMC. SMC(ICY) isn't mate to Retail trading.... I can risk more coz SMC give a better RR Dan Retail can ever do with a higher wining chance
So I started out trading using retail concepts I didn't really give in the discipline to learn what retail concepts actually inferred so I lost alot of money. When I decided to take my trading seriously I went in for SMC which is basically the same as ICT and my trading journey has transformed sporadically, the RR the tight stop losses and for the first time I really understood the market. But along the journey I met alot of people who could literally stake thier life's when they see thier perfect setup using retail concepts. And my conclusion was that both concepts work, I wasn't just disciplined enough to understand retail concepts, both have their pros and cons but I can tell you this for a fact, if you put a retail trader and an ICT trader, they will both be profitable but the ICT/SMC trader will make more returns and preserve his capital better.
Let me break this down for you(based on how I’ve studied both) … ICT was basically derived from retail trading strategies but ICT just tweaked the strategy to offer tighter stoploss placements by going down a couple of timeframes lower… you can also get really tight stops with retail trading but the thing about retail strategies is that retail traders wait too long for “confirmation before entering the market and also place stop losses in the wrong places…. How I enter the market is simple . If price breaks support or resistance on my entry timeframe, I place a buy or sell limit order in the middle Of my SnR zone so when a retest happens I get triggered in with a small stoploss and it has worked well for me
Every strategy pays depends on everyone's personalty.
Someone who can endure loosing streaks without shift in psychology and can digest severe information go in for ICT
BUT for a person who like it simple can go Retail based strategy.but as a retail trader, don't expect that much RR as ICT,else you will get yourself burnt.
As an ICT trader, you shouldn't risk more of your capital,i.e,0.5% max risk per trader because of very low stoploss which can easily get hitted depends on how you understand what you're doing
As a retail trader, you should not be lured in by over confidence because retail concept has a high win ratio but a low RR which is opposite to that of ICT.
In a nutshell, When picking your strategy, put your PERSONALITY and PSYCHOLOGY in consideration.
Retail Trading All The Way Have Been Trading For Four Good Years As A Retail Trader And I Must Confess Is What It Is So Retail Trading Is Good Proudly A Retail Trader
ICT is way too complex, it could literally take 3 to 4yrs to master. The minimum is 1yr. Why would I want to stress myself doing that? when I can learn retail trading and become profitable in 6 or 7 months.
ICT is the best o! Have you seen the trade set ups? If you have, you won't ask this question. Set ups that you can risk just 2% to make 17%! Can retail trading give anyone that?! just saying🤐
Omo! I thought I was the only one seeing this hot mess, it everywhere on twitter. You need to see the shades they were throwing. Shebi na to make money? Abi? Wahala no con too much like this

I will choose a simple strategy over a complex one, any day anytime. So I will go with the retail strategy
And it's not as if this ICT concept gives you 100% win rate o
ICT is way too complex, it could literally take 3 to 4yrs to master. The minimum is 1yr. Why would I want to stress myself doing that? when I can learn retail trading and become profitable in 6 or 7 months.
Honestly, I don't get what the beef is about o. ICT is great but it's not the only way to make money in this market.
ICT is the best o! Have you seen the trade set ups? If you have, you won't ask this question. Set ups that you can risk just 2% to make 17%! Can retail trading give anyone that?! just saying🤐
LOL🤣😂Una don start again, let's leave authentic abeg. Just make money. Who cares?
